I am using this page to explain to those I have met personally what I am trying to accomplish with this site and to explain why I would love for you to be involved.

So let’s get down to it: My approach to this site is to provide weekly strategies for small business owners - like you - that will help you to grow your business while also giving you more free time.
Yes, strategy can do that. More free time. More money.
Unfortunately, strategy is something we often delay in exchange for urgent tasks - you know, the things that come up every day that distract us from what we really needed to get done. Yet, strategy is so important. It is absolutely vital to the success of our businesses.
Do you spend too much time on the "urgent" tasks of your business?
I recently gave a speech where I talked about the difference between the "urgent" and the "important” in business and used the analogy of our local firemen who visited my children's school. You see, my kids were enjoying a presentation where the firemen were showing them their truck and were going to talk about fire prevention. Unfortunately for my children, the firemen were called away just as the presentation had begun. That night, my kids expressed their disappointment because they really wanted to see the truck and learn about fire prevention.
The next evening, I was surprised to learn something: the firemen had actually come back that next day to finish their presentation. In that moment, it was clear to me that they understood how essential it was to focus on the "important” - even when the "urgent” had literally called them away.
Just like those who get called out for emergencies, small business owners often feel like firefighters as they are constantly putting out "urgent" fires. (Am I right?) Yet, career firemen understand the importance of promoting fire prevention, and this is the exact reason why they returned to my children's school - when they didn't have to.
As business owners it is critical for us to make time for the important tasks - especially when it comes to strategy. The truth is, just like fire prevention can prevent fires, strategy can actually help reduce the urgent activities in our businesses.
And that is what my site is all about - creating small strategies (hacks) that can have a HUGE impact on your business over time.
In talking with many small business owners like you, I know first hand that you understand the importance of strategy, but haven’t had time to formalize one for your business. I don’t blame you - traditional strategic planning sessions take weeks to plan for, cost a fortune, and usually collect dust on a shelf. And you are used to flying by the seat of your pants anyway.
Yet strategy IS important to your business. And that is why I have decided to do strategy differently.
I still believe that strategy is essential for business growth and sustainability, but it MUST be effective (not like a strategic plan that sits on your shelf collecting dust) and needs to be quick and simple.
Therefore, I focus my strategies on “business hacks.”
I define business hacks as “the micro elements of strategy and innovation.” Basically, hacks are the finite pieces of strategy which, when applied together, can provide for a much larger, substantial change.
Just like a book isn’t written over night, strategy really doesn’t come in one swift motion - it is the result of hours of study, tweaking, and implementation. It is a result of hacking away and laying the foundation of strategy piece, by piece, by piece.
Now to wrap this up...
As you can see, I have created this site to help small business owners. My ultimate goal for this site is to be a resource that helps launch businesses to the next level. But I really can't do this on my own. So...
I had a realization of two things: I have met you personally and you - as a business owner - are my target market. Therefore, I am going to go out on a limb and ask you for something.

I am literally creating this content with you in mind and would love your feedback so that I can provide the best resource possible. Good or bad, bring it. My end goal is to provide you with what you need, so I don’t know if I am doing that if I don’t hear from you.

As a business owner, you know other business owners who would benefit from this information. While I surely don’t have all the answers, I am committed to finding strategies that help small businesses to compete in a world of big box stores.
